Getting a good deal on Golf in Spain

Spain is Europe´s most popular golfing holiday destination and most golfers who visit Spain on a regular basis will have found a golf holiday provider they can trust. However, in a recession, people are often looking for a better deal and “shop around”, that’s what we did, let me tell you the pitfalls!

It is almost always cheaper to book you golf holiday from a Travel agent that is located in Spain. This is the truth and many UK or European operators simply use a Spanish travel agent on a third party basis anyway, costing you more in the long run.

The pitfalls of using a Spanish travel agent to book your golf holiday, is that, many companies in Spain are not legaly registered, or part of any “body” that will offer you protection if the company “dissapears”.  That happened to us, looking for the best deal, we spent a few hours on the internet looking for Golf tour operators in Spain, we found a site that looked very official and offered us the best price for our trip to the Costa del Sol. However, 4 months after booking and only 4 weeks before our holiday date, the company simply vanished, taking with it our deposit. If loosing your deposit is not bad enough, try re-booking a golf holiday 4 weeks before you want to go! On this occassion we stayed at home!  

The Next time we booked however, we still used a Spanish travel agent, but this time, we ensured they were fully legal and registered, we used Direct Golf Holidays, who are based on the Costa del Sol and speak English too. The holiday price was good and the holiday went to plan, without any hitches, we would like to recommend Direct Golf Holidays to anyone looking for a golfing break on the Costa del Sol, or any part of Spain.

You see, when a company is legaly registered as a travel agent in Spain, they get better rates from the Hotels and courses automatically. They also get preferential bookings and golf times, making it easier for them to provide exactly what you require. We found Direct Golf Holidays, not only fair on price, but also very helpful and genuine, talking to other Golfers in Spain, we also discovered many others who have travelled with Direct Golf Holidays and had the same oppinions, so a top company folks!

We chose to take our latest Golf Holiday on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain and a very enjoyable break it was indeed. The Golf courses on the Costa del Sol, at least, the 5 we played on (also Recommended to us by Direct Golf Holidays), were in immaculate condition and with some challenging designs. The Hotel recommended to us was also superb, we opted for 4 star, but the hotel could have passed for Five star without too much difficulty.  Direct Golf Holidays also arranged a mini bus for us, from the Airport to hotel and also to the golf courses and back, which, I must say, was prompt, had a courtious driver and was modern clean and comfortable.

Thanks to Direct Golf Holidays, we did have a superb golf holiday on the Costa del Sol and will be going back next year, all 10 of us.  The reason for this article IS to recommend Direct Golf to anyone looking to book a golf holiday in Spain, we were so pleased with the holiday they provided for us, that we wanted to inform all of you how good they are.

The main folk of the Comany are the Husband and Wife team Martin and Diane and they cannot be more helpful, they are an English Couple who have been in Spain for over 15 years and have been coordinating golf holidays in Spain for most of that time, so I guess they know what they are doing!
