@chrismoss420 I disagree. This idea tends to lead to people not following through enough. A shorter backswing with a emphasized follow through makes a consistently clean strike and actually helps improve feel for speed and distance. You essentially use a persons maximum effort instead of allowing them to vary the effort they swing the club.
One thing evryone should remember is a pendilum motion the same distance back as forward. That goes for putting too
@olivershoe line the ball in mid – back of your stance keep your head down and give it a full swing. Just make sure you stay over the ball. If you come out of it too early you will hit it thin
BORING
@373teddy lol
steve thanks for all the instructions i love your videos and sorry about all the ignorant people that can’t just watch an instructional video and if they don’t like it leave the page keep putting them out and ill keep improving…. you da man.
is this a lesson on how to be a boring tw@T ?
Great tips. The secret tool for golfers to take their game to the next level is the Powerball.
nice little tip Steve and who really cares whats right or left we get the jist
Pretty sure he is talkin to 10 + handicapprs…this is more basic…any true ten handicapper or better is working on more meticullous swing mechanics than this
classicalgas: “none” will “never”? Welcome to the club.
he meant our left duh?
Hey has anyone noticed the amount of people who are basically oxygen thieves that post below good people trying to share info with the world, It never ceases to amaze me the number of losers who add what they erroneously think are smart comments, none of these people ( and I use the term loosely) will never contribute one useful thing to anything,
1:11
lol
lol i noticed that right away too
Right ear @1:11 – RIGHT EAR!
shit kridian 09…he was just joking ur such a little fag
Oh get over it. Obviously he was a little quick with that so he got it wrong. Look at the whole deliverance of this lesson.
i think when he points to his right ear instead of left is to just show left to us?? idk lol
“gobshite” lol what is that……
He says left ear and points to his right ear? Ummmm waz up wit dat ?

Great instructor. Articulate and easy to understand.
Great video!!
chris, how many yards are you pitching in this video? about 35 yards???
thanks for the video
can somebody please explain me the importance of the resistance or hold in the followthrough?
Well done Chris. Extremely effective, concise lesson. Has improved my somewhat dodgy chipping enormously and given me a level of confidence with these shots that I have not had since I was a kid. I have shot two sub-par rounds in the last 3 weeks and the tip, for sure, saved me 3 or 4 shots. I also think that your point that pitching is a “mini golf swing” helped also. Improved my turn through impact and I hit a lot more fairways off the tee than is usual for me. A rare gem. 4 handicap. Thanks
Honestly their are so many different pitch and chip techniques, because it is supposed to be a miniature form of your full swing. If you have read harvey penicks little red book, he said that if you have little time to practice before playing than you should chip and pitch, because it should be the same technique of your full swing. So i would suggest if your having trouble just try pitching and chipping with your full swing technique, but with just a different setup. This always works for me.
waitt. shouldnt i have the ball on my right foot.
Nice Drill thanks for the tip!!
An old golf buddy of mine (pro) has a pretty good program out guaranteed to get ya under 80. golferbreak80dotcom
hit your PW as a 55 yard shot would be a 1/2 PW for you.
Likewise a 1/2 sand wedge should be your 40 yard shot and a 1/2 lob wedge should be your 35 yard shot.
You can even break these clubs down to 3/4 and figure your yardage with that. For example, a 3/4 PW would be your 83 yard shot.
Since my last post I have after lots of experimentation solved the problem of hitting shots from 100 yds. I keep the ball left of center. On backswing I break wrist completely (as much as possible) even beyond 90 degress. The ball goes high and lands softly. I have yet to miss a shot after adopting this swing. Please try and give me some feedback.
just take away from how hard you hit the ball with each club
what club are you using? sand wedge?
Hey Chris… it seems to me you´ve read the Stan Utley book on Short Game…
I am a 8 handicapper and have a hard time hitting half shots. My specific problem is as follows: I hit the PW 110 yards, SW 80 yds, and Lob wedge (60 degrees) 70 yds. What is the best shot to hit to a flag located 55 yds away? The flag is about 10 yds from the edge of the green. I use a PROV1 Titleist Golf ball. The greens are on the hard side and the ball rolls from 1 to 6 yds depending on the type of shot. How should the shot be hit with each of the three clubs?
Will this shot go low or will the wrist break make it go high. A longer pitch generally requires a higher shot more like a lob shot with a soft landing.
not really because you’ll never get the same ball flight or spin rate using this technique. look up hank’s pitching advice, its much better.
low loft and lots of spin is a good thing.
If you want a soft landing high lob pitch then fine use another technique. But this shot is important to have in your bag surely??
awful. if you want deep divots, no loft and loads of spin pitch like this.
Great vid, that is following on from my coaching session this morning
Thanks Chris
just listen boy! just 3 things one two and three. hinge turn and feeling resistance. cmon, thats easy. good video!
It’s unfortunate that an amateur golfer may encounter this video and try to apply the fifty things this instructor has prescribed. If I had to remember all of those things I could never make a golf swing. I’m sure this instructor is the same.
Annoying voice >:(
