Laura Davies Headlines a Strong Slovak Field

A winner in Germany less than a fortnight ago, Davies will be making her first ever visit to Slovakia for an historic Ladies European Tour event that boasts prize money of 350,000 Euro.

Davies faces a strong field that includes the ebullient Swede Pernilla Lindberg, England’s Melissa Reid, South Africa’s Ashleigh Simon, and Germany’s Anja Monke.

Lindberg, from Sweden, is the leading rookie on the Ladies European Tour and is joined by fellow first year player Maria Hernandez of Spain, who has also made the trip over the Atlantic Ocean from the LPGA Tour in America. wholesale golf clubs

Reid, must have a chance of winning after securing her maiden LET victory at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open less than three weeks and Monke is another potential champion after claimed her third LET title at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco.

Members of last year’s European Solheim Cup Team, Helen Alfredsson, Tania Elosegui, Gwladys Nocera and Becky Brewerton are always players to watch and Denmark’s Iben Tinning, ranked third on LET’s Henderson Money List behind Davies and Reid, is also in a rich vein of form having recorded four top ten finishes from five events played so far this year.

Current European No.1 Davies, who recently earned her 74th career title in Germany, will be the major draw card, but many will be watching Zuzana Kamasova, the only touring professional golfer from Slovakia, who is attached to the course and even helped with its design.

The only other Slovakian player in the field is Vicky Tomko, who is a 22-year-old amateur, born in Germany, living in Belgium and attending the University of Central Florida.

Zuzana Masinova is the LET’s sole representative of the neighbouring Czech Republic, while there are three additional amateur players from the country in the field: Daniela Prorokova, Marie Sebestova and Klara Spilkova, who was a member of The 2009 European PING Junior Solheim Cup Team and won the 2009 European Young Masters in France.

The course, which will be a par 72 for the tournament, meanders through the natural terrain of the valley to create interesting and challenging holes with sloping fairways and undulating greens. The owners of Gray Bear also own and operate several hotels and restaurants in the immediate area that serve both members and resort guests. There are a number of activities which can be undertaken in the coniferous forests which surround the golf course and are inhabited by bears and wolves.
