What Is The Difference Between A Gas And Electric Golf Cart

Based on working, golf carts are of mainly 2 types. They are Gas golf carts and Electric golf carts. The most commonly used ones are electric and they run on rechargeable batteries. That doesn’t mean that Gas powered golf carts are bad. It is also a smart choice when its features are considered. Both electric and gas golf carts have their own advantages and disadvantages. So the decision on which one to select entirely depends upon you and your requirements.

The main factor to consider while choosing a golf cart is how much you use it. Electric golf carts run on batteries and they usually run for about 30-40 miles and give a pedal time of 2 hours on a single charge. So if you need to travel a lot on your cart, then electric carts are not a good choice. They can run out of battery especially on the long run. In such situations, gas golf carts are advantageous. They can pretty well last for a whole day. Some may purchase golf carts for farm maintenance and hunting trips. In such cases you will have to ride the cart for long distances. Electric carts won’t be a suitable choice here and you will need a gas golf cart itself.

If you want extra power out of your cart then gas golf cart is the choice. Some might need that extra bit of power for purposes like hauling, towing, climbing up steep inclines etc. Gas golf carts are also advisable in such situation.

The factor on which gas golf carts hit a set back is the cost of operation. The cost of operation of an electric golf cart is a meager 0.02$ per mile, but for a gas golf cart it is 0.10$ – 0.15$ per mile. This makes an electric golf cart much more affordable than the counterpart. The gas prices that keep on varying can affect the cost of operation of the gas cart, while that of electric carts it does not matter as electric charging is not expensive, even though the battery needs maintenance.

Electric carts are free of pollution and noise. They are quite safe to be used anywhere, but gas carts are noisy and can be hazardous in certain situations. These features make electric carts the best selling ones.
